Michelle Dearth serves as the Director of Sales for the Athens MSRE team. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Soon after, Michelle moved into sales management with a non-profit organization, and eventually into the healthcare industry. She obtained her real estate license after moving to Georgia in 2009, where she quickly fell in love with the southern climate and hospitality. She has spent the majority of her real estate career in new home construction, selling John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods and Del Webb with The Pulte Group. 

We are so happy to have Michelle as a part of the MSRE team and are excited to highlight her as our next Human of MSRE!

The leadership team is amazing! I feel blessed to be surrounded by a core group of individuals that are so positive, inspirational and motivate you to be your best possible self. MSRE is about integrity, vision, commitment to quality of service, respect for customers and agents and the ability to achieve results. To be a part of something so great is empowering. I believe in surrounding yourself with 3 types of people: The Inspired, The Excited, The Grateful. This team is truly the best in the industry!

Why do you lead?

Leadership is not about me. It’s about the great people working with me. Achievement for me is about others, knowing and caring about what inspires and empowers them. It’s about caring enough to know what is important to them and helping them succeed. For me, leading from the heart is the key to leadership success. To lead from the heart is to understand at a deeper level of how to bring out the best in people. When we lead from the heart, we demonstrate appreciation, and in return, it is reflected back to us.

What types of individuals do you look for when hiring for your team?

I look for individuals who are enthusiastic and passionate about what they do. Their successes should shine through during the interview process. My values definitely align with MSRE so I look for excellent attitudes, drive to grow and improve and individuals who will fit in with our fun Athens team culture. I am definitely competitive, so I also look for motivated and driven people who will go above and beyond what is asked of them. Ambitious people work hard to do the best they can and constantly think of ways to improve and be more efficient. I focus on three qualities for success: having a positive attitude, ability to adapt to change and loving what you do.

What is your favorite part about the people you work with?

The spirit of friendship and comradery is what makes MSRE a winning team. Team members love their jobs, and there is a culture of trust across the entire organization. It is a place where you feel appreciated and know that your contributions matter. I love the teamwork and respect that we all have for one another. It’s awesome coming to work with happy people who love where they work and love making a difference in other’s lives.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

I look forward to growing our Athens team and celebrating all their wins. I would also like to have a positive impact on the team in attaining not only their professional goals, but their personal goals as well. I love our vision boards and the inspirations behind them. I believe in investing time in ourselves and having great experiences along the way.

What are your passions outside of work?

My family is a HUGE part of my life. I am most proud of raising my two sons, Tyler and Kyle. They have grown into strong and confident men who will forever protect their momma. My oldest son, Tyler, and his wife, Erica, have also blessed me with two beautiful granddaughters, Audrey and Anna. In addition, my dad is someone who continues to be my rock! My family makes my world a happier place.

I also love the outdoors: hiking, boating and all the new adventures along the way. I have a newspaper article from years ago that I keep as inspiration; it has the best hike for every state in the U.S. My goal would be to conquer each one of them with my fiancé, Ryan and JoJo, our mini Labradoodle.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

There is just something about the Southern hospitality! I have quickly adapted to Southern living with the friendly people, amazing weather, great food, and of course, sweet tea! Anywhere in the south and preferably near the water would be perfect for me.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you travel?

I think that Bora Bora is the perfect location for a once in a lifetime adventure. It is the most beautiful island, surrounded by a large turquoise lagoon. Definitely an exotic and unique dream destination!
