In Good Company: The People of MSRE – Jane Nickell
Jane Nickell serves as the Director of Sales for our MSRE Nashville team. She is a Nashville native who graduated from Belmont University. From traveling across the globe to starting her own business, she has done it all! She joined Mark Spain in March of 2019 and we could not be more excited to welcome such a creative and enthusiastic member to lead our Nashville team. We are so glad to be able to spotlight Jane as our next person of MSRE!
What was life like after college, Jane Nickell? What did you do before MSRE?
After graduation I moved to Sydney, Australia! I spent 16 months traveling through a lot of Australia as well as Thailand, Fiji and New Zealand. Once my travels were done, I came home and started a gourmet ice cream sandwich food truck! Food trucks were just taking off in Nashville, it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about owning a business.
What are your passions in life outside of work?
I love to travel and want to see the world! Lately, I’ve been dreaming about South America: Argentina, Chile, Peru, Brazil and Columbia, sign me up!! I am a bit of a novice chef and enjoy trying new foods and competing in cooking challenges with my foodie friends. Lastly, working out and spending time with my new puppy, Chili, is always fun!
How long have you been involved in real estate?
Following my food truck days, I worked in new home construction as an onsite Sales Agent and Certified Field Trainer for 6 years.
Why Mark Spain Real Estate?
I love MSRE already for breaking down the boundaries of what a real estate company should be and creating something new and effective. It really feels like being a part of something special.
Why do you lead? What do you like about leading others?
I lead because I love seeing people grow and accomplish things they didn’t think they could do. Some of the proudest moments of my career have been when agents I mentored exceeded their goals, became trainers, received promotions, landed on the leaderboard and more. That’s what it’s all about!
What types of individuals do you look for when hiring for your team?
I think about the intangibles- work ethic, drive, confidence, likability and honesty, just to name a few. There are a lot of things I can teach but these traits have to be intrinsic. Regardless of prior experience; if they have the right mix of ability, a willingness to learn and be the best, I am all for it!
What makes the Nashville market special? Tell us what do you love about Nashville.
What isn’t exciting about being in Nashville right now?! There is so much energy and change happening in the city. It’s always been a creative and diverse melting pot but that all feels like it’s in overdrive right now. People are dawn to Nashville for the quality of life, never-ending entertainment and the friendly people. The food isn’t half bad either!
What are you most looking forward to this year?
Recruiting and training a winning team for Nashville! Hang on tight everyone, we are coming for you!
