This week’s tips reinforced the importance of active listening and asking the right questions to improve your career.

The Meaning of Mindful Monday

We are honored to have hard working team members who run our training program and constantly encourage Mark Spain Real Estate agents to grow and improve. James Sasson, Mark Spain Real Estate’s Director of Training, started as an agent in spring of 2015 as an agent and in 2016 he became the Director of Training. Mindful Monday is a way for our team members to get in the right mindset for their work week after enjoying the weekend. “I believe that the mindset is the foundation where everything begins, and being mindful changes how you react to everything.  My hope for the Mindful Monday email is to simply add value and to plant a seed that will stay with people throughout the week, if not longer.”, shared James, about why he started the weekly emails and how it benefits the team.

The Importance of Asking Questions and Active Listening

Last week’s Mindful Monday email was all about how to ask the right questions and how to listen to your clients in order to level up your individual sales volume and success. James shared, “Questions are a great way to help you focus less on yourself and your agenda while focusing more on your clients and their needs. In fact, one way to level up immediately is to spend about 80 percent of your time asking questions and listening, and 20 percent guiding or giving instructions.”

How to ask meaningful questions.

  • “Have you ever…” This commands a person to remember when they did and re-experience all those feelings.
  • “What would it be like if…” Starting a question with this phrase commands a person to imagine a condition and describe it.
  • “…as to when…” Inserting these words in the question allows the individual being asked to connect phrases and presuppose the thing will happen.
  •  “…isn’t it?” Ending your question with an agreeable phrase will increase your chances of getting a yes.
