Communication with Your Realtor

By Mark Spain Real Estate

It is important to communicate with your realtor during the buying and selling process. If you’re human, odds are you have had a communication mishap in your life (and more realistically, this week). Communication has never been easy but is even more difficult now that the majority of our communication takes place virtually. We’ve taken the top 6 pro tips we came up with to help make communication with your realtor go as smoothly as possible. Let’s lay them out for you:

It is important to communicate with Your Realtor

Communication with your realtor is key to finding your dream home

1. Don’t worry about the lingo.

It’s safe to say any of us would feel pretty out of place sitting in a SAT prep classroom, we don’t expect you to know the ins and outs of real estate vocabulary! If you have a question – ask us! We are more than happy to explain what something means. We want you to feel comfortable, trust us, and know just how knowledgeable we are in the field.

2. Tell us exactly what you’re looking for to Communicate with Us

If you can’t stand houses that have attached garages or are repulsed by the idea of an above-ground pool, tell us! Don’t hold back because you don’t want to miss out on a potential property. Communication is key during this entire process. If there is something you do not want to have in a home, let us know! We are here to serve you in achieving your goals.

3. Always double-check what the next step is.

Real estate transactions can be complicated and long, which is why you have an expert on your team. If you’re unsure of the next step, confused about what you are supposed to be working on, or want more updates on a response from the sellers – let your realtor know! We are happy to clarify exactly what step in the process we are on. When processes are this complicated and lengthy, things can fall through the cracks. We love to have you following along as well!

negotiate and communicate

4. Trust your realtors’ art of negotiation.

First, choose a realtor who you trust. Second, actually, trust them! We have spent years negotiating for our clients, so if we suggest raising your offer or adding or subtracting to it, listen to us! We are going to ultimately go whichever way you choose, but trust that we have the experience and your best interest at heart. Mark Spain Real Estate wants you to find your dream home!

communicate a negotiation to reach a closing

5. Let us take the confusion out of the closing.

Closing day is always a little tricky – everyone needs to be on the exact same page at the exact same time. Trust your realtor to communicate dates, times, and which required documents to bring. Listen to us when we suggest things. We are here to make this as smooth of a transition as possible. We are here for you.

learn how to communicate well

6. Come to us at any time, even after the sale is complete.

Just because you have found your dream home and sealed the deal does not mean your relationship with your realtor is over! We love to answer questions or just check-in and see how things are going. Come to us with anything and we will find you an answer, from the closest gym to home warranty questions. We are here to help!
