Tell us about you! Where were you born, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I was born and raised in a small town on the gulf coast of Mississippi near Mobile, AL. I attended college at The University of Southern Mississippi. Immediately after college, I took a position and moved to Connecticut for 2 years. It was a really cool experience and one that I will forever cherish! However, I’ve always loved Atlanta and was eager to be closer to home, so I moved to Atlanta in October. In my spare time, you can find me enjoying the city with my roommates and friends. I often travel home for the weekend and spend time with my family!

When and how did you become a part of Mark Spain Real Estate?

I started at Mark Spain Real Estate in early February! It kind of unexpectedly fell into my lap; a LinkedIn recruiter reached out to me about the position and after a bit of research, I realized that Mark Spain could be a great fit for me. So far that has proven to be the case! I’m at a little over 6 weeks with the company so far and I’m enjoying every day of it. I get to work with really great people and I truly enjoy the culture and the work that I do.

Blair, why did you decide to choose Mark Spain Real Estate?

I first knew the job was for me when I read the job description. With the year we’ve all had, I wasn’t super hopeful to get a job doing exactly what I want to be doing. I was expecting to have to take the first job that was offered to me for fear that there might not be a next one.

After my first virtual interview with Kaitlin, I knew it was where I wanted to be. The job was exactly what I was hoping for. Kaitlin and I got along really well and I could tell we had similar work styles. I knew that we would work well together. After meeting Alisha, I felt like I had already been working with the company and she and I were just having a catch-up call. The company culture, especially with my team is of the highest quality. It was an easy offer to accept!

What is your favorite part about the people you work with?

My favorite part about my coworkers is that everyone knows the role they play is integral to the smooth operation of the company, and they act accordingly. We are like a family; we chat often, work well together and definitely share laughs but we also have great work ethic and accomplish any task set in front of us in a timely manner.

What have you learned the most from working at Mark Spain Real Estate?

Since I started working at Mark Spain Real Estate, I’ve read some really great books. One of those books was The One Thing by Gary Keller. I’ve learned that it’s okay to make mistakes as long as you learn something from them and move forward. One of my favorite quotes from the book is, “Contrary to what most people believe, success is not a marathon of disciplined action. Achievement doesn’t require you to be a full-time disciplined person where your every action is trained and where control is the solution to every situation. Success is actually a short race–a sprint fueled by discipline just long enough for habit to kick in and take over.”

What are your passions in life outside of work? Blair enjoys being on water and spending time with her friends!

I really enjoy being on any body of water. Beach, lake, river. I’m my best self when I’m on a boat in the sunshine. I spent hundreds of weekends on the water growing up and I still try to spend as much time as possible on the water with my family in the summer.

Who inspires you in life?

My parents are the most inspirational people in my life. They were 17 when I was born and they worked every day to make a good life for me and my sisters. They taught me that anything can be achieved through hard work and they are now living very comfortable, successful lives.

I’m so thankful that I got lucky enough to have two incredible inspirations in my life. Not only did they teach me that I could achieve anything through hard work, but they also set the example by actually doing the hard work and not simply telling us to do it. They literally showed us what can be achieved through hard work, and I think having them be the example instead of just telling us anything can be achieved through hard work instilled in us a level of appreciation. I believe that having them actually display hard work improved my own work ethic.

What are you looking forward to this year?

This year I’m looking forward to the world getting a little closer to back to normal and hopefully catching a few Braves games! My sister is getting married in September so I’m looking forward to her wedding, and I’m looking forward to exploring and becoming a local to Atlanta and making new friends!
