Tell us about yourself, Kara!  Where were you born, and what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I was born in Nashville, Tennessee but consider myself a Florida native, as that is where I spent most of my important years in life. In my free time, I love living an active lifestyle. Working out is definitely the main hobby along with traveling with friends and spending time with my family. 

When and how did you become a part of Mark Spain Real Estate?

I joined Mark Spain Real Estate in June of 2022. My sister works for Mark Spain Real Estate as well and has always spoken so highly of the organization. When I started looking for what was next in my professional career she had suggested meeting with her boss to connect, but over time I became interested in what was going on at Mark Spain Real Estate and really enjoyed the staff and culture of the work. It became a simple and easy next step. 

Kara, how long have you been involved in real estate and where? 

I am pretty new to the real estate industry as this is my first position working with a real estate team. Previously I worked in business affairs at Augusta National Golf Club and business operations at the University of Georgia. 

Why Mark Spain Real Estate, Kara? 

During my interview, what really stood out to me was the resources they were willing to invest in their employees. That specifically set it over the top as having work that supports you in all aspects of life is very important. They wanted their employees to succeed and be a part of their employees’ success. The culture of the marketing team was also very inviting. It fit what I was looking for: a welcoming, hardworking group that had high expectations for their work. 

What have you learned the most from working at Mark Spain Real Estate, Kara?

The biggest thing I have learned since joining Mark Spain Real Estate is the process of buying and managing mass media. I have had two great people to shadow with a mass amount of experience, Sue Hanna and Beth Radtke, and could not be more thankful for the time they have spent with me over the past few months. 

What are your passions in life outside of work?

Outside of work, an active lifestyle is essential to me. I am currently training for a marathon in Hawaii, which I am very excited about. I’m also a consistent face at Orange Theory Fitness. Besides that, the beach and water are my happy place and I spend any extra time I can there! I also enjoy spending time with my family. I am very fortunate that my direct family lives within 30 minutes of each other so we are able to see each other quite often. 

Who inspires you in life?

My mom and two older sisters are definitely my inspiration. They are strong determined women who have worked hard in their professional lives and they somehow do it all! They are three of the most caring individuals and I am very fortunate to have had them growing up. 

Tell us about the friendships you’ve made at Mark Spain Real Estate.

The entire marketing team has been so welcoming. I work directly with mass media so Sue Hanna, Beth Radtke, and Micaela Woods have definitely become go-to people for me in the first couple of months. All in all, though, everyone on the marketing team has been very welcoming and has made me feel right at home stepping into a new team. 

What are you looking forward to this year?

I am looking forward to continuing to learn more and more about Mark Spain Real Estate, especially about our mass media (billboards, radio, tv). I want to continue to expand my knowledge so that I can provide the most value to our marketing team and the entire organization. I am also looking forward to continuing to develop relationships with our marketing team, Mark Spain Real Estate employees, and our mass media station reps.
