Before Moving Into Your New Home

Moving is an exciting process, and we understand that it is easy to get ahead of yourself after you sign the closing papers. This is why we have created a list of all of the important things you should do before transitioning into your new home! 

• Start Packing

When you start your packing process in advance, you become more inclined for your boxes to be more organized. It is important to pack the items that you do not use on a daily basis, first. Then, when it is closer to moving day, you can begin to pack your necessities. 

• Set Up Utilities

You should make sure to set up the electricity, air conditioning, water, gas, and trash services. When you go online or call to set these services up, you can set a day for them to turn on. This will ensure that you will have all of these up and running when you move in. The last thing you need is to be moving your furniture into a home with no air conditioning or running water! 

• Change Your Mailing Address

Additionally, you should go ahead and change your address for any future mail you may receive. This will allow you to skip the stress of hunting down bills and invitations at your old house. 

• Review Your Budget

Further, it is a good idea to review your budget so you don’t overspend when purchasing new items for your new home. Maintaining your budget will give you the confidence to pay any unexpected bills you may receive in the near future.

After You Move Into Your New Home

• Paint and Implement Necessary Repairs

The day has come, move-in day! Before you get all of your furniture moved in, it is smart to go ahead and paint the walls and ceilings if you were planning to do so. Even minor paint touch-ups will be best when done before all of your furniture has arrived. After the painting is complete, you can change the wall outlet covers. This will give the rooms in your home a more fresh and new feel! Another great idea is to change the locks on the doors around your home. This will ensure no one has a key to get in except for you and your family!

The next step is to deep clean your entire house before moving your things in. This will be best to be done after the painting process, in case any unwarranted spills occur! A thorough clean will eliminate the chances of you and your family getting sick. By using top-grade cleaning products, you will keep your family safe and your home fresh before your official arrival. 

• Furnish Your New Space

Moving your furniture in is going to be the last step on our checklist. This final step is sure to transform your new house into a new home.
