History
Nearly 240,000 residents call Henry County home, and the county seat is McDonough. The county was named after Revolutionary War hero Patrick Henry. It’s a part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, GA area and is home to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Additionally, it’s known as the 10th fastest growing county in the United States.
Cities
Locust Grove is another city within the county, which is where Tanger Outlet Center is located. This is one of the largest malls in the county with plenty of popular stores. Locust Grove is also home to Noah’s Ark, which is a rehab center for animals. McDonough is one of the largest cities within the county and provides the very popular Geranium Festival every May. It was also featured in the film, “A Medea Christmas” by Tyler Perry, the show “Resurrection” and the movie “We Are Marshall.”.
Stockbridge is another larger community within the county that provides a few large parks and many of the schools found within the Henry County School District. Hampton is a popular community in Henry and is home to Atlanta Motor Speedway and Henry County Airport. This city is also home to some of the great public schools in Henry County.
