Fernbank Elementary School

Fernbank Elementary was established in 1957 and has served the Druid Hills area ever since.

This school is currently going through a transition into a larger building and the move is anticipated to happen in the summer of 2015. The new location will be found on Heaton Park Drive, while the temporary location is on Old Rockbridge Road

In 2008, the school became authorized to teach the International Baccalaureate Organization Primary Years Program. This is something the school is very proud of and the program provides something not found at all elementary schools.

School Mission

The mission of Fernbank Elementary School is to stimulate a love of learning in each student. The staff strives to foster respect for others, creative problem solving and self-discipline.

The school strives to achieve their mission through expectations of excellence, employing top teachers and using the best technology available and promoting a caring atmosphere to help foster better learning.

Along with the academics, the school offers a few after school programs for students to become involved in. These programs help students to develop skills outside the classroom and enjoy something fun after school hours.

Volunteers

Not only is the school supported by the regular faculty, but also aby parent and community volunteers. These volunteers help the teachers with different programs and tasks. They must go through mandatory training before volunteering, however.

Fernbank Elementary School is found in Atlanta, Georgia and is a part of the DeKalb County School District. The school has an enrollment around 700 students, which will expand with the new building.

GreatSchools.org has rated the school as a 9 out of 10 and the community has given it a four-star rating. Overall, this is a solid school for students and provides an education for pre-K to 5th grade students in the Druid Hills area.
