Poncey-Highland Real Estate

The Intown neighborhood of Poncey-Highland is found on the east side of Atlanta. This neighborhood isn’t far from the downtown area. It’s found close to Virginia-Highland, Old Fourth Ward, Midtown, Inman Park and Little Five Points. Due to the close proximity to North Highland Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue, the neighborhood was named Poncey-Highland.

Historic Buildings

This neighborhood is home to many historic buildings including:

  • The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library
  • Clermont Hotel
  • Manuel’s Tavern
  • Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant
  • Western Electric Company
  • Briarcliff Plaza
  • The Highland Inn
  • And more!

Most of the neighborhood was established between 1905 and 1930, so there is plenty of history throughout the area.

Real Estate

The Poncey-Highlands neighborhood is mainly made up of bungalow and craftsman style homes. Many of the homes are on hilly streets and provide very large porches. Some also provide a great view of the downtown skyline. Homes range from about $300K to $700K throughout the area.

Those looking for a short commute to work will find this neighborhood to be a good choice. It’s only a few minutes from I-75/85 and Peachtree Street. This makes Poncey-Highland very convenient for those working in the Downtown Atlanta area.

Along with the easy commute, the area provides plenty of nightlife. Many hip clubs, bars and restaurants are found throughout the area including Two Urban Licks and Babette’s Cafe. This area also has the Atlanta Beltline running through it, which provides plenty of walking trails for residents to enjoy.

Schools

The Poncey-Highland neighborhood is served by the Atlanta Public School System. Schools found within the area include:

  • Mary Lin Elementary
  • Inman Middle
  • Grady High
  • Morningside Elementary

Mary Lin Elementary is known as one of the best schools in the city and has won many awards.

Overall, this neighborhood is a great choice for those working downtown and for those looking to live closer to the heart of Atlanta.
