The neighborhood of Virginia-Highland is often called VaHi for short. It’s found in Atlanta and was established in the early 20th century. It was originally known as a streetcar suburb and the name comes from the intersection of Virginia Avenue and North Highland Avenue. This is the center of the commercial district for the neighborhood.

The homes found throughout Virginia-Highland are mainly historic bungalows and traditional homes with renovations. Some new construction luxury homes are also found throughout the area. Homes range from about $450K up to $1 million and even more. Some of the luxurious new construction homes can cost more than $1 million.

The Commercial District

Residents enjoy easy access to the commercial district found at the center of this neighborhood. There are many small commercial units with plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment options found throughout. Many of the well-known restaurants were established in 1990s and still provide plenty of great options.

Shopping is found throughout the Amsterdam Walk and other areas within the neighborhood. Ponce de Leon Place is also a warehouse area that has been converted for commercial use.

Across the BeltLine residents also have access to a couple of major strip malls, which are called Midtown Promenade and Midtown Place. This location is also close to the Ponce City Market, as well.

The Virginia-Highland neighborhood is home to many parks, which include:

  • Piedmont Park
  • John Howell Memorial Park
  • Orme Park
  • New Highland Park
  • The Atlanta BeltLine
